Why Krishna Created Meat Eating Animals?

Question: Why Krishna Created Meat Eating Animals?
Gurudeva, I am doing my management studies and there are many of my class mates who have shown interest in Krishna consciousness as they have many times seen me chanting and talking about Krishna's pastimes. They have asked me many questions of which I know the answers, but I am not that qualified to make them understand. I know you are in that position to answer them perfectly. The questions are:

1. If eating meat is not advisable by Krishna,… Continue

Oh Lord, now I long to hear from You the glories of the Srimad Bhagavad-gita, which was spoken by Lord Krishna, and by hearing which, one's devotion to Lord Krishna increases"

Why Choose Krishna Consciousness if Everything is Predestined?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Gurudeva,

Please accept my dandavats.

We often hear from elders and seniors that everything in our lives is destined. If it is true, then is our liberation also destined? And if that is so, why do we have make the conscious choice to take up the practice of Krishna consciousness?

Your servant,

Ankit

THE GIFT

By Sri Gopala Dasa Adhikari

In his Viveka-cudamani, Sri Sankaracarya says,

durlabham trayamevaitat devanugraha-hetukam
manusyatvam mumuksutvam mahapurusa-samsrayahah

"These three are difficult to obtain in this world, and depend on the mercy of
God – the human birth, the desire for salvation, and the company of
great-souls." (Viveka-cudamani 3)

The jivatma, having come to this material world accepts many different bodies
in its journey – tree, bug, bird, animal, human, demigod, etc. Being b… Continue

To a person who has no faith in righteousness, the joy derived from its observance is incomprehensible. To dilate upon it before such a person is as useless a venture as blowing a conch before a person who is stone deaf. So when righteousness is taught to a person, ascertain whether that person has faith and earnestness, and the eagerness to practise it. Only such persons must be dealt with.

Youngsters take great pains to acquire degrees for securing good jobs. But they hardly take any trouble to develop their character and personality. Good conduct and character are the most essential requisites for a man. They are the basis for spiritual life. If the spiritual aspect is neglected, man becomes an artificial, mechanical being with no genuine human quality in him. Many people today do not understand what is meant by spirituality. It is the knowledge of Divinity, which is man's true nature. Spirituality reveals the basic principle that is immanent in everything and sustains the entire Cosmos.

All communication has disappeared from the world. Everybody is living a lonely life -- lonely in the crowd; the crowd is becoming bigger and bigger every day. The world population is exploding; there have never been so many human beings as there are today -- and man has never been so lonely. Strange! Why are we so lonely amidst such a crowd? Communication has failed.

Hence meditation has become something absolutely needed, the only hope for humanity to be saved, for the earth to still remain alive. Meditation simply means the capacity to get involved yet remain unattached. It looks paradoxical -- all great truths ARE paradoxical. You have to experience the paradox; that is the only way to understand it. You can do a thing joyously and yet just be a witness that you are doing it, that you are not the doer.
Try with small things and you will understand.

Tomorrow when you go for a morning walk, enjoy the walk -- the birds in the trees and the sunrays and the clouds and the wind. Enjoy, and still remember that you are a mirror; you are reflecting the clouds and the trees and the birds and the people.

Go on a morning walk and still remember that you are not it You are not the walker but the watcher And slowly slowly you will have the taste of it -- it is a taste, it comes slowly. And it is the most delicate phenomenon in the world; you cannot get it in a hurry. Patience is needed.

Eat, taste the food, and still remember that you are the watcher. In the beginning it will create a little trouble in you because you have not done these two things together. In the beginning, I know, if you start watching you will feel like stopping eating, or if you start eating you will forget watching.

Our consciousness is one-way -- right now, as it is -- it goes only towards the target. But it can become two-way: it can eat and yet watch. You can remain settled in your center and you can see the storm around you; you can become the center of the cyclone. And that is the greatest miracle that can happen to a human being, because that brings freedom, liberation, truth, God, bliss, benediction.

The best way to get rid of weakness is to strike it at its very root - the mistaken belief that you are the body, that you have a name and a form, these senses, this intelligence and this mind. These are all the luggage you carry. Don't you say, "my mind", "my hand", just as you say, "my book", "my umbrella"? Who is this 'I' that calls all these "mine"? That is the real 'you'. It was there when you were born, when you were sleeping forgetful of all else, forgetful even of your body with all its equipment, internal and external. That 'I' cannot be harmed; it does not change, it knows no death or birth. Learn the discipline that makes you aware of this truth and you will be ever free and bold. That is real Vidya (knowledge), the Atma Vidya (knowledge of the Self).

THE SPIRITUAL SKY

There is another reality that is more compatible to us than what we experience now, and that reality is the unlimited Spiritual Sky.

The material world is a pale reflection of the Spiritual world, it is NOT heaven which some religions say is the ultimate destination.

Heaven is still in the material world and when you go there after using up all of your good karma you must come back to the earthly planets.

Even though you can stay there for millions of years and all your senses work better and you can have better sex life you cannot get to the Spiritual world easily because there you are more into sense gratification than here on earth.

The Spiritual Sky is 75% of Krishna's creation and the material world is 25%, the Spiritual world is eternal and time does not exist there, The material world is temporary and time destroys everything here.

In the Spiritual Sky there are no stars because everything is self illuminating, in the material world if turn off the lights at night you can't see a thing and most people are afraid of the dark.

In the Spiritual world there is no birth, old age, disease, war, or death, In the material world there is birth, old age, diseases, wars, and death all around us.

The Spiritual Sky is known as Vaikuntha or without anxieties, while the material world is called Kuntha or with anxieties. The living entities are like fish out of water here in material consciousness and some of them don't even realize that this place is a horror show for them.

So the choice is clear you can stay here and be a hero, fighting against material hardships or you can become a surrendered Krishna devotee and go back home, Back to Godhead.

JAPA

Japa is the quiet prayer. You say it loud enough so you can hear it, but it’s mostly for yourself. Radha and Krishna can hear you. They’re close by, so you don’t have to shout. But They’re listening carefully, so you pronounce with great care. Put your heart into it. Hear me, Lord. Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare/ Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare. Over and over, the thirty-two syllables are repeated.

From Bhajana Kutir #78

Empty and calm and devoid of self
Is the nature of all things.
No individual being
In reality exists.

There is no end or beginning,
Nor any middle course.
All is an illusion,
As in a vision or a dream.

All beings in the world
Are beyond the realm of words.
Their ultimate nature, pure and true,
Is like the infinity of space.

-Prajnaparamita

---
It is only when the mind is completely under control that man can grasp his real identity. Then all troubles and travails, doubts and dilemmas, come to an end. Man then overcomes sorrow, delusion and anxiety. He is established in the holy calmness of Shanti (peace). Spiritual life is not a matter of meaningless talk. It is an experience of pure Ananda (bliss).

- Baba

All cravings and impulses rise up with overpowering strength like waves from the sea, roar in fury, and then subside in to calm waters. They do not confer peace. Wisdom lies in forgetting these waves and directing one's attention to the calm depths within. You can attain Shanti (peace) only if you dive in to the deep and undisturbed depths of the sea within, not by swimming around on the surface.

- Baba
